Mickey Mouse

One of my most vivid, reoccurring childhood dreams was also one of my most terrifying. It involved one normally joyous children's character: a Mr. Mickey Mouse. In this nightmare, I played the part of Mickey. I was all dressed up in full Safari regalia, complete with khaki hat, khaki shirt and khaki shorts. I was preparing to embark on a long expedition across a very large desert for who knows what purpose. I had about three or four camels all loaded with items necessary to my adventure and I was checking to make sure that each camel had these things. Naturally this means that I needed to check and see if each camel had two eyes and a brain.

Luckily for me, I did not need to know any advanced neurosugery techniques, because there was a handy little door on the side of each camels head that I could open up, check to make sure everything was in order, and then close back up. All with minimun discomfort to the camels, I'm sure.

Everything was proceeding very smoothly until I reached the final camel. When I opened its head door, the cartoonish eyes and brain were there just as the others, but all of a sudden they crumbled into dust and blew away on the wind. I would then wake up screaming and drenched in sweat.

I don't know why I found this so utterly horrifying or why I dreamed it almost a hundred times between the ages of 5 and 7.

What it's all about

I have very vivid dreams. Most of the time I can remember them really well. Too well. I can't forget them. Most of the time they are disturbingly funny to me. The serious drama and terror of my dreams often doesn't hold up in the light of day. And so I decided to start this blog to share my ridiculous dreams.

The purpose of this blog is not to analyze or find any deeper or mystical meaning to our dreams, but to find humor and wonder in the oddity that is our brains.

I hope you will share some of your wacky dreams with me too. Send your funny, crazy, odd dreams to theclearlightofday@gmail.com
